For those who have not had the chance to enjoy the experience of Afternoon Tea recently, then our review may possibly start you thinking of endulging in a little treat for yourselves.
With this in mind we decided to treat our Grandchildren, Holly aged 11 and Kristian aged 9 to Afternoon Tea at this stunning Country House Hotel located in Ascot on Easter Monday. We have reviewed Coworth Park previously and have been asked by a lot of our readers, is this Hotel child friendly or do we know somewhere special to treat our children, important at this time of the year with many younger ones completing nerve jangling Sats exams and many looking towards starting on the journey into secondary education.
Afternoon Tea at Coworth Park is served daily at two sittings, 2-30PM & 4-45 in the drawing room and adjoining conservatory.
This means that Afternoon Tea is an experience and something to savour.
During special occasions and the Weekend, music adds to the ambience and experience of this quintessentially British tradition.
As it was Easter Monday, we opted for the later sitting of 4-45PM, as we had a plan that involved an earlier Easter Egg Hunt at nearby Virginia Water meaning the children would work up an appetite.
As always upon arrival we were met by welcoming and friendly staff who made us and the children feel very special straight away.
We were seated in the conservatory which has stunning views across the meadow and croquet lawn.
Cloudless skies and a rare Easter Day of unbroken sunshine meant that we were located perfectly whilst music was provided by a very soothing harpist.
Mathew our waiter for the Afternoon & what turned out to be Evening recommended some non alcoholic amazing cocktails for the children, whilst Ruth & I enjoyed a glass or two of champagne.
We were impressed with the knowledge and personal touch showed by Mathew when he explained the speciality blends of fine teas, the choice of sandwiches, running through a plethora of options for the children that included Jam, Nutella, Peanut butter and other fillings that can be freshly made should you have fussy children or for both adults and children if you have special dietary requirements.
We were asked if we wanted time to just to relax prior to ordering which we did, this allowed Holly & Kristian to explore the stunning features of a zen garden and croquet lawn that looked very appealing to them.
After about an hour we decided to feast upon our delicacy which was served on a stunning tray in a traditional style.
Attention to detail and the changing seasons were evident with cakes beautifully presented, carrot cake complete with a little bunny, rhubarb cheesecakes, plain and fruit scones and much more awaiting us after some lovely sandwiches.
Holly & Kristian enjoyed in particular the nutella sandwiches and the egg mayonnaise.
We were looked after with more sandwiches, tea and champagne and with the stunning Spring Sunshine, harp playing and five star food and service, this pure indulgence was certainly being enjoyed by all of us.
After all eating far too much, our waiter Mathew asked if we would like our cakes boxing up to take home, of course we could not say no, after all it was Easter!
After a delightful two hours, we all descended on to the croquet lawn to try our best to work off some calories.
Ruth showed a determination and aptitude for this sport and also a fierce competitive edge, I did remind her this was not an olympic sport!
For those of you that have not been to Coworth Park or never considered this wonderful five star hotel as somewhere to spend time with children, we could not recommend this hotel enough.
Presentation, service even on one of the busiest days of the year was truly outstanding and so good we have booked to bring our Grand Children back in the August School Holidays.
