Winter time is always a busy period for many with lots more people on the move and spending Christmas&New Year on Holiday.
For many the Winter Months also mean travel is a top priority, whether it being a skiing holiday overseas or in Scotland,a break in the country, city break or enjoying the fresh air at the seaside.
We hope you enjoy reading about some of the places that we have visited this Winter in The UK.
Cumbria&The Lake District.
This beautiful corner of England has certainly hit the headlines recently,we are pleased to say that The Lakes Is Open For Business as the local communities and help from others has ensured that thousands of visitors can enjoy Cumbria this Winter time.
Ruth & I stayed in five star luxury close to Ambleside at Brunt House.
This magnificent country home overlooking mountains and a stunning valley was our home for a week enabling us to enjoy lots of mountain and river walks and exploring hidden gems that The Lake District has to offer.
Within 10 minutes drive we were within easy reach of Grasmere, home to poet William Wordsworth for fourteen years who described it as “the lovliest spot that man hath ever found”
The stunning Langdale valleys are within easy reach as is Ambleside, Bowness on Windermere and Coniston.
Food serving locally sourced fresh produce is what really stood out to us during our visit with renowned pubs such as The Brittania Inn at Elterwater and The Dabbling Duck Ambleside particular favourites.
If you want to experience log fires and the quintessentially English pub in Winter then where better to sit back and enjoy locally brewed beers with strange sounding names.
Hipping Hall is serious about food, this charming hotel located on the edge of The Lake District served up a tasting menu of pure drama and theatre to us.
Seasonal masterpieces combined with quality wine, impeccable and knowledgable service means that Ruth&I would personally recommend a visit to this quirky and unique hotel.
A two or three night couples or holiday for friends would be advisable.
We have experienced much more in The Lake District which we will be writing about in forthcoming issues of our magazine.
We would certainly recommend that you check out The Lake District in 2016 and if you require any help in planning your journey please just ask or contact www.golakes.co.uk
